The word and action of self-care seems to be the absolute last thing on my daily list of things to do. Cooking, cleaning, running errands and a business, working full time-work and trying to live my best life takes the high seat on a daily basis. Even with all the goals and being an available help for everyone, I completely understand that I must take time to care for myself in order to continue the busy and jam packed schedule that I obtain everyday. Taking big vacations are few and far in between but here are 4 things that I consistently do on a weekly basis for my personal self-care.

1. Take yourself on a date: I know that sounds crazy to some people but for me having that alone time in order to reflect and appreciate the great woman I am really helps. My dates can consists of taking myself to a nice quiet place or one of my favorite dope spots and getting dressed up in a nice outfit. I love to just sa-shay myself  out on the town.

2. Learn to love your smile: Being such a busy woman it seems that I always I have a serious face or  mean-mugging because I am consistently processing my to do lists. Then I have those moments where life becomes very overwhelming and I am just not happy with the current results. However taking the time out to smile and just be thankful for things that I have, accomplished and to the future.

3. Take time to do daily meditations: There has been many times that I felt overwhelmed, uninspired and like a failure. When I stop and think, I realize that I had not channeled anything that I was feeling or was going through. Becoming aware of my feelings, thoughts and surroundings truly helps relieve feelings of stress. Taking myself away from the normal scenery of everyday life and viewing the beauty of life helps me to appreciate the good, bad and being an over comer.

4. Be Selfish: CLEARLY there is a false conception that being selfish is a bad thing! Chile….You betta go do something you love for you! Find that one thing that makes you smile over and over again! For me I like to do something that makes me strut! Like putting on this GORGEOUS short set that compliments all of my goodness. Society says thick girls shouldn’t wear shorts if you have cellulite. I say pooh, I wear it well and with a smile! Learning to be apologetically happy means I think about what makes me smile not what others think or feel!

Today, take the time to take care of yourself and love you unconditionally! Self-care is just as important as caring for others!
